It was on the news today that there are suggestions that we should provide mandatory flu shots to school children. I am not sure what to think, as I am hacking away from my four-day-old flu. Last year I got a flu shot. Almost immediately after, I got flu-like symptoms for a day. A week later, I still contracted the flu. The medical community says that the flu shot is a potion of the most likely flu bug of the year and therefore will not protect you from the flu 100%. Given that, we still provide free flu shots to the elderly and babies. Should we force school age children to get vaccinated? I didn't get the flu shot this year. I don't know what to think about the flu shot debate.
